Mormugao Port Authority to Ink 24 MoUs Worth INR 3,000 Crore at India Maritime Week 2025

Panaji: Mormugao Port Authority (MPA) is gearing up to sign 24 Memorandums of Understanding (MoUs) valued at ₹3,000 crore during the upcoming India Maritime Week (IMW) 2025, scheduled from October 27 to 31 at the Bombay Exhibition Centre, Nesco Goregaon, Mumbai.

The announcement was made by Dr N Vinodkumar, Chairperson of MPA, during a press briefing in Panaji.

Maritime Investments and Green Port Initiatives

Highlighting the scale of IMW 2025, Dr. Vinodkumar said the event will see participation from over 100 countries, more than one lakh delegates, and 500 exhibitors, positioning it as a global platform for maritime collaboration, investment, and innovation. The event will also feature over 250 speakers across country sessions, state sessions, conferences, and investor roundtables.

“Mormugao Port Authority will sign 24 MoUs worth ₹3,000 crore at IMW 2025, covering berth renovation and solar power projects,” Dr. Vinodkumar stated. He added that Goa will host a dedicated State Session on October 27 to highlight the state’s maritime potential and infrastructure developments.

Mormugao Port Authority: Sustainability and Modernization Efforts

Recognized as India’s first Green Port under the Green Port Certification Programme by the Centre of Excellence on Environmental, Social, and Governance and Circularity, Mormugao Port Authority currently produces 3 MW of solar power through its in-house plant, meeting 100% of its energy requirements.

Plans are underway to add another 2 MW solar project to support upcoming developments, including the new cruise terminal.

Dr. Vinodkumar also announced that Mormugao Port will soon host container vessels, with feeder services connecting from Mumbai to Mundra, Gujarat. The Port is also advancing toward becoming a Smart Port by integrating technologies such as 5G for enhanced operations and communication.

Showcasing Goa’s Maritime Potential at IMW 2025

At the India Maritime Week 2025, MPA will exhibit its modernization journey, cargo handling capabilities, cruise terminal progress, and sustainability achievements at its dedicated pavilion. The Goa State Session will further spotlight the state’s maritime growth, strengthening its contribution to India’s overall maritime ecosystem.

The five-day flagship event, organized by the Ministry of Ports, Shipping and Waterways, will bring together global maritime leaders, policymakers, investors, and industry stakeholders. Prime Minister Narendra Modi is expected to deliver the keynote address at the Global Maritime CEO Forum.

MPA has been actively promoting IMW 2025 through campaigns across Goa and stakeholder engagement activities, including a mega roadshow in Panaji held in September 2025, attended by Chief Minister Dr. Pramod Sawant and Transport Minister Mauvin Godinho.
